27....I'm getting old

So the big birthday was this past Thursday. Why is when you get older you want to stop counting!? However regardless of how old I turn, birthday's are always fun and my hubby always finds a fun way to spoil me. This year I was hoping for a baby for my birthday, but it still seems she's content in my tummy, so my wish didn't come true. However my cute hubby busted into the blog (see post below) and left me a cute message! To some...no big deal, to me....LOVED it. Only because I'm constantly joking how people are professing their undying love to each other all over Facebook and I tease him about not loving me like all those people who throw it out there. I about pooped my pants when I sat down to check the blog and saw what he had done. I called him and asked him how long it took him to figure out how on earth the blog worked. Needless to say it was a really fun surprise.

My day was great. I pampered myself by getting my toes and nails done (they have to look cute as I lay on the O.R. table), took a nap, and then went to dinner with Kurt. My biggest surprise was a receipt for this....
Everywhere is out, so mineon order at Wasatch Running and should be here mid august. Not sure if it will be red or blue, but it's going to have a car seat adapter! Woo hoo! Just in time to start pushing me to get ready to run in September after I'm all healed up. I've got to start training for the half in January and full in April. I was SO excited, it was a great surprise. Thank you to my hubster who always makes it the best day! He spoils me too much! And thanks to all my friends and fam for the phone calls, texts, and messages on FB for my birthday!

P.S. Please excuse the ugly fat, looks like i might kill over, picture of me! A birthday has to be documented and this is about as good as it gets. I'm also trying to figure out my new long hair...ahhh!!

Happy Birthday Kara

I just wanted to wish my sweet wife the best birthday ever! I have never posted anything on a blog so I hope this works. I hope that you enjoy yourself today. Thanks for being the best mom and wife anyone could ask for. I can't wait for our little girl to join our family. I love you so much!

Happy Birthday BABE!!!

Kennecott Copper Mine

On Monday Ethan and I ventured with Russ, Lynette, and Mindy & her kids to the Kennecott Copper Mine. Sad that I've lived here for so long and never been up to it. I have ridden up Butterfield canyon and looked down into it, just never been to the little museum or anything. This whole week is free for everyone, so we hit up the mine and then hit chick-fil-a for some yummy lunch! No complaints, it got us out of the house and everyone was happy!

A Day Trip to Bear Lake

Saturday morning we woke up early and headed for Bear Lake. It's a tradition every year in July. Last year was less chaotic since we went up for two days and got us a little condo to spend the night in. This year was just a day trip. We got up there about 9:00, ate some breakfast with some family, and then headed to the beach and the lake for the rest of the day. It started out pretty overcast, but by mid afternoon it was a scorcher. Of course on our way out we hit the cute diners and had ourselves a nice Raspberry shake. I think I would make the drive just to get a shake. We finally pulled in a little after ten that night and we were exhausted. Four hours in the car in one day is a little long for my prego body. I was done by the time we were half way home. It was way worth it though, I always have fun with my cousins. I slacked on taking pictures while on the boat, so here are a few of us all on the beach. Thanks again to the Snyder's for taking such good care of us.

The Eye Update....

I figured I haven't updated much on Ethan's eye progress. After three surgeries, hours of patching, and lots of check ups, his eyes are looking great. This seems to happen for 6 months to a year and then he forgets how to use them together again. However his last surgery was this past November and things are still looking good. He did start to slightly forget how to use them together for a moment and after a month of patching we are back to straight. The doc says things are looking great, so we are keeping our fingers crossed that three was the lucky number. I'm still amazed at what Doctors can do. His head tilt is caused by his eyes and just adjusting them to feel comfortable. He will most likely grow out of it, but if not I will take his little head tilt. It feels like it's just him. I love those big brown eyes of his and his lashes that any girl would kill for. Why do boys always get the lashes!?

Drive In

We took Ethan to a drive in for his first time on Saturday night! We used to hit the drive in all the time when we were first married, but this was the first time we attempted with Ethan. We went and saw "Despicable Me." It was pretty cute, not as a cute or entertaining as Toy Story 3, but a fun movie. Ethan loved chillin on the love sac with us, with his own candy, drink, and toys. Sorry for the crappy pics, apparently my camera was on some ultra sensitive-no flash setting. Oops!

36 Weeks

I'm finally 36 weeks and I look like a huge ole' elephant! I just went to the doc on Tuesday and I'm officially on his calendar to have my c-section on Sunday, August 1st. I can't say I would complain if she came earlier, but I guess the longer she's in there the better. Three more weeks to hang in there....I should be happy that my doc is taking me almost a week early. Ethan came two weeks early so maybe she might make her debut the same way! Guess only time will tell! Until then, I will carry this huge old belly everywhere with me!

The 4th Celebrations

Our fourth of July weekend started off by heading to East Canyon. Kurt's parents have a time share there and we are lucky to go up every year. When we got there the power was out and had been out for about an hour or so...we figured it wouldn't be long until it went back. We were SO wrong. By Saturday around 1:00p.m. the power finally came back on. It was worth the fun of sitting in the dark all night and cooking french toast in car port outlets around the timeshare!

Saturday we hit the lake. Ethan loves the boat and for some reason listens much better when we are on it. We put him out in the new tube we got thinking he would love it, but I guess his dad's love for water sports might not come for another year or two. I love boating and wish that I could have got out and done some things, maybe if I heal quickly from the baby I can get one good wake boarding day in! Guess we will have to see! Nothing but a fun day on the lake.
After a long day on the lake Ethan, Bennett, and Grandpa Russ crashed hard ten minutes into the movie "Up."
Saturday night we headed into Hennifer for the annual fireworks show. I don't know why we choose to sit so close every year, but next year I will remember to move further away. After two fireworks didn't shoot up but straight at us, Russ jumping out of the way for one, ash falling on us in the back of the truck, and me getting decked in the face from some of the cardboard off of one of the fireworks, I was glad it was over. For some odd reason I still look forward to going back next year!
On Sunday we headed to Midway to spend the last little bit of the weekend with my family. WeBBQ, played games, and did our own fireworks. The Hogans were the only smart ones sitting in their car not eating smoke. The kids enjoyed it, but had to be all wrapped up in blankets because of this crazy weather! It's the 4th of July, we shouldn't be in jackets and sweatshirt!
Monday we woke up, relaxed, headed to the park, grabbed some subway, and off to another park to play. I've always loved the 4th of July. Even with all the craziness and switching between families. It also makes me really appreciate those who serve for our country, I'm so grateful to live in a free country, I take it for granted much too often. Hope you all had a Happy 4th!
