Time Out

I think we've hit the terrible two's RIGHT NOW!! Ethan doesn't want to listen to anything we say. When we tell him NO he looks at us and does it again. The other day he kept turning off the TV so Kurt went up to slap his hand (because that's what we've been doing) and he stuck his out out for it to be slapped. At this point we figured he some what knows what he is doing so we decided we would try timeout. Well....this option just makes Kurt and I laugh and Ethan could care less. We put him against the wall and couch in our living room and then we leave the room. The other day when Kurt put him in time out all he kept doing was saying, "HI!" in the loudest whisper he could. He smiles, waves, and laughs...so how do we keep straight faces? Then he tries to see what we are doing so he sticks his head over the side. He gets in trouble again and is told to sit there. He thinks it's funny and that he's playing Peek A Boo. Honestly...how are you supposed to discipline an 18 month old! He's got us wrapped around his finger and makes us laugh, even when he's getting into trouble. Wish us luck in our endeavor to start getting him to understand time out.

Ethan...what a tease! That picture is priceless!!

Dont worry...it doesnt ever get easy to hide your smiles when kids do things "wrong or funny". Yesterday~ Alycia dropped some pudding on her chest (while eating)...and Tyler yells..."Hey your Boob". Where did he get that?? Landon and I were laughing so hard and yet trying to discipline. Not an easy task...parenting!

Ethan is so cute! It's so hard to not laugh! We used to sit Ashton on our stairs for time out, but he would just sit there with the biggest grin on his face, he thought it was all a game! Now we put him in our study for time out which he doesn't like so much. He seems to understand it better now, so I think it's just with consistency that they get it eventually and it's not a game anymore. It's still really hard to keep a straight face though! :)

He is so cute, I would laugh too. Sky is 6 and I still laugh at her sometimes when I discipline her. Good Luck!!!

Man is that hard!! If you come up with something let me know...Aleah is the princess of the world (at least according to her) and she does not care what anyone has to say to discipline her...sad but true :(

Kara you just need to lock him in the basement and feed him fish heads... that is what we do with our 12 month old when she does something naughty (Too bad you can't type sarcasm, people will now think I am abusive!)

Just enjoy that Ethan is turning the TV off so young. In a few years you will be saying, "Turn the TV off" about a hundred times a day.
He is so cute.

What a cutie! Sounds like all the things we have to look forward to! I can only imagine trying to keep a straight face!

Could he BE any cuter? He is so adorable. Him peeking around the corner is just about the funniest thing ever.

Good luck! I wish I could say it gets easier, but really they just get smarter! We are back in WJ now, so maybe it would be fun to do a get together with anyone in the area. Let me know what you think.
