This past week was filled with lots of family get togethers on the Jenkins' side. Kurt's little bro Travis got married. We were able to go with my new sis in law Jen to take her endowments out in the Oquirrh Mountain Temple, have a big family dinner, and then attend their ceremony & reception. It was such a great ceremony! Looking at this picture, I can't believe how big the family is getting. Congrats again to Travis and Jen!!

Are Sleeping Positions Genetic?
Kurt claims that Ethan and I should sleep together and let him have his own bed. I'm a wild sleeper, I always have been, and most likely always will be. You would think that my hubby would have learned by now. We got good advice from my family to get a king bed when we got married, and Kurt is VERY grateful that we did. Anyways on to my story...Ethan has never slept with Kurt or I. He has been a great sleeper, a light sleeper, but still a good sleeper since we brought him home. He started sleeping through the night at three weeks, and I've honestly never had to really get up with him....until this weekend! We spent Friday night up at East Canyon with Kurt's family. It didn't start off too good since Ethan wouldn't go to sleep until about 10:00. At about 2:00 in the morning he started freaking out yelling "Mom!" as loud as he could and was totally disoriented, not knowing where the heck he was. So since Kurt's brother was sleeping on the couch in the same room as the three of us Kurt picked him up and threw him into the FULL size bed we were sharing. Instantly I knew it wasn't going to work since every time you moved it sounded like you were sleeping on a plastic bag. I decided to move to the floor and let Kurt share the bed. By morning we all hadn't slept well and the first thing Kurt said to me was, "All he does is kick, thrash, and sleep sideways just like YOU!" I couldn't help but laugh as I thought of him being kicked in the head all night long!! Sorry babe....he may sleep like ME, but he acts just like You!

The Dreaded Question...
I'm sad to announce that the unwanted questions "WHY?" has now become part of Ethan's vocabulary! I'm not quite sure where this was picked up, it was bound to happen, but it's a full day of "Why?" after everything I say to him. Awwww....I guess the "Because I said so!" can now begin!!
In other news....we had a check up on Ethan's eye today. Things are looking good in the vision area of things, but his left eye is still drifting. We have scheduled surgery on November 6th. They will just work on one of the muscles in his eye instead of two. Hopefully this will be the last go around. The doc said that sometimes it just takes time and we are in the "fine tuning" stage. I really like Dr. Larson and feel like he only wants what is best for Ethan. He said today that sometime near in the future this will all be part of the past that we won't even remember. It's hopeful that we will get his eyes straight, however we could still be looking at more surgeries in the future depending on what Ethan does with his eyes. The doc said his vision has improved even more with the patching and is looking great. I'm grateful that at least if anything, wandering eye or not, that Ethan can see.
I will now go enjoy the this time while Ethan is napping and not asking me "WHY?"

Swiss Day Madness
Warning: This post contains lots of pictures! Every year the madness of Swiss Days gets worse. So why do we bother to come up?? It's a fun weekend full of shopping, no kids for a night, and pure sisterly fun! Without my mom home, we still kept up the tradition of our Midway/Swiss Day weekend. Mom sure brings some good laughs and fun that was missed while we were there, and only two more Swiss Days until she's here with us. My sister Kristin and sister in law Alaina headed out on Thursday night. We hit some good food at Texas Roadhouse and then hit the Park City outlets where we scored some cute deals. After a fun night at the house and enjoying no kids, we stayed up late and then got up early to hit the shops over at Swiss Days. We all got some super cute things and mostly enjoyed the random crazy ladies who freak out at certain booths. We also had to have the huge scones that you can't go without, and we enjoyed some lunch at the Homestead after.
Later that night all of our hubbies came up with the kids. We ate at the park and then let the kids run crazy at the park. According to Phil and Kurt they had the "ride up from hell" with three boys in the backseat of Kurt's truck. Don't worry that Ethan poured water on Preston, wouldn't stop touching him, and they all wouldn't stop talking the entire way up. I assume next year they all might drive on their own instead of carpooling! Sorry Phil!
We got all the boys some matching pj's at the gap outlet!!
Saturday morning we woke up and ran the 10K, which has already been posted. Thanks to my sis and Caiser who watched the boys while we went and ran. After the race we hit the lake. The weather was pretty overcast, making it nice for us since NO ONE was on the lake! We practically had it all to ourselves. Kurt also scored big this weekend by checking out KSL. Some kid listed an air chair for super cheap, and Kurt was the first one to call and scored big. So this was the first time on our newly owned air chair.
Sunday was a lounge day. Just hung around, took naps, and let Kurt rest his knee. I think my husband has become a gimp. There will most likely be no more 10K's in his future. His surgery knee from five years ago was acting up and we would prefer to not have to do surgery again.
Monday morning we woke up, cleaned up, and headed to Deer Creek once again to boat with our friends the Woolstenhulmes. I forgot my memory card in my laptop, so no pics! Kurt attempted a back flip on the air chair. I got it on video but can't figure out how to load it since it was on my video camera. He almost got it, just needed a little bit more air.
Then off to home where we had a BBQ at Russ and Lynette's and celebrated Kell's big birthday! I wasn't very good about getting pictures of everyone, so here are a few of the fam.

The 10K...
Well I finally did it! I advanced from a 5K to a 10K. 6.2 miles!!! I know to some it may not seem like a lot, but my weight loss journey began almost a year ago come November!! Wow how time flies. After many days, months, and hours running on my treadmill, neighborhood runs with Nickie and Vicki, and the trekking class with Alaina on Saturday morning, made me love running and got me in shape. Ok, maybe not LOVE, but I do like to feel like I can accomplish different things. Ten months ago I would have said you were crazy for telling me that a 10K was in the future, and now I've done it!
Every year we head up to Midway for the fun festive Swiss Days and some madness shopping (post coming soon of the swiss day weekend). After looking up some 10K's I found that there was one right up here in Midway; and since we were already going to be up here for Labor Day weekend, I figured why not. So I recruited some fam; Kellie, Mindy, me, Kurt, Alaina, Phil, & Lynette all set out at 7:00 a.m. to start the race.
It's surprising how your body naturally gets into a rhythm after so many miles and you feel like you can keep on going. Kurt and I crossed the finish line together at 1 hour 1 minute and 12 seconds. I'm pretty excited about it, next time I hope to beat the 1 hour mark!! Here we are all after the race with runners high.
